Sort through photos: get rid of the failed shots quickly

After a vacation there are hundreds of photos in the folder, and many are blurry, doubled or almost identical. Clicking through them one by one in a gallery makes people give up. A clear method makes it easy.

A simple method

  1. Go through all the images once and decide immediately: good, bad, unsure.
  2. Delete the bad, leave the unsure and keep the good.
  3. Look at the unsure ones again the next day. With distance, the decision is easier.

What to look for

With burst shots, keep the sharpest. Images with closed eyes or camera shake can go. You recognize the same shot twice in a folder by identical size.

Folders, not libraries

Apple’s and Microsoft’s photo apps manage their own library. GetSpace works with normal folders. It suits photos that lie as files in a folder, for example after importing from a camera or memory card.

How it works with GetSpace

Each photo appears large, and you decide in a second.

  1. Choose the folder with the photos and allow only “Images” in the filter.
  2. Left arrow deletes, right arrow keeps. The space bar shows the photo full screen.
  3. Press M to move the good photos to a folder like “Vacation 2026”. Press R to give them a name.
  4. “Find duplicates” finds identical images.

GetSpace is a program for Mac and Windows and doesn’t run on phones. Send yourself the link and download it on your computer.
